Greetings! I’m Colleen and I’ve been sewing for almost as long as I can remember. I really immersed myself in the craft during high school home-ec (am I dating myself—is that even offered any longer?). I perfected my skills in the costume shop in my college theatre program. And I’ve been sewing ever since.

I’ve embraced the phrase “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”. I started stitching “green” when my daughter was born in the late ‘80’s. I made hats from soft, worn-in t-shirts; stripey leggings from the sleeves of her daddy’s shirts; and quilts from clothes that no longer fit.

To fuel my sewing and crafting adventures, I embark on “rescue missions”, saving all kinds of stuff from ending up in the trash: buttons, zippers, wooden spools, ribbon, beads, baubles, and almost anything vintage. I love giving new life to something that’s been cast off.
